Friday May 19

Today started off with the kids joining Mr Fast's English Learning class where they interacted through some group games.
Then it was off to Toki elementary school to participate in helping the Japanese kids learn and be excited about English. If they want to learn English maybe they could go to Chukyo High School, maybe enter the international program, maybe come to WRCA, maybe become a Christian, and maybe go to Mr Fast's church when they return and help strengthen the church in Japan. Sounds a bit far fetched but most of the members in Mr. Fast's church have done exactly that. The Chukyo-WRCA program  is now celebrating its 30th anniversary. So what the Grade 9 class is doing is planting seeds for future growth!
Our next stop was taking trains and subways to Nagoya city. The students had some free shopping time before we headed to the baseball game. It was an exciting  game that can only be watched as Japanes do, special songs for each player were sung. Baseball hats, jerseys, and fuzzy mouse ears to be purchased and worn. Small bats to be tapped in rhythm to cheers and chants! Plus plenty of Japanese style junk food! All this to have the home team go into overtime and Mighty Casey stepping up to the plate. One strike, two strikes, then a hit deep into centerfield right where we were sitting and a homerun wins the game for the locals! Couldn't have a sweeter end to the night as we all jumped and cheered! We then headed back to our homes on the train with our homestay students.
